Billy Napier didn’t stay at his new job too long.
The Murray County High School graduate has been hired to coach wide receivers for the University of Alabama, according to a report on Warchant.com, a Florida State blog. Napier accepted a job as Florida State’s tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator last month.
The son of Dalton High School offensive coordinator Bill Napier — who was Murray County’s head coach during his son’s playing days — Billy Napier worked with Alabama’s football program as a quality control assistant in 2011 before becoming Colorado State’s offensive coordinator for the 2012 season.
He played quarterback for Murray County before graduating in 1998, going on to play the same position at Furman University in South Carolina. He coached at Clemson from 2006 to 2010, working as the offensive coordinator his final two seasons there.
The Crimson Tide’s successful run under current coach Nick Saban includes winning three of the past four BCS national championships.

A state championship is a nice accomplishment on its own, but an undefeated mark makes a team’s status elite even among the title winners.
