Emory to exhibit materials from SCLC archives

ATLANTA — Emory University’s library plans to exhibit materials from the archives of a civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

The exhibition of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference’s materials is titled “And the Struggle Continues: The Southern Christian Leadership Conference’s Fight for Social Change.” It is set to open Feb. 21 at Emory’s Robert W. Woodruff Library. It will focus on the continuing struggle for civil and human rights in the years following King’s assassination in 1968.

An opening celebration on the evening of Feb. 22 will feature remarks by civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis and SCLC leaders.

Emory’s Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library holds the SCLC archive.

The exhibition runs through Dec. 1 and is open to the public free of charge.
