CALHOUN: Armed robbery suspect ties up theater employee, escapes with money

CALHOUN —

An armed man tied up an employee and stole money from the Martin Theater during a robbery on Wednesday morning.

The robbery occurred at approximately 11 a.m. at the facility on WC Bryant Parkway in Calhoun. The suspect, a black male, approached the theater holding an object shaped like a poster tube, according to Lt. Tony Pyle of the Calhoun Police Department.

The employee working at the time of the robbery opened the door for the man. Pyle said the employee thought the suspect was delivering a package.

The suspect then pulled out a small handgun. The suspect then tied up the employee in the office of the theater and stole the victim’s iPhone, which was later found in the woods beside the theater, as well as the cordless phone in the office.

“He probably did that so the victim couldn’t call the police,” said Pyle.

The suspect then stole money from the theater and fled.

Police are still searching for the suspect and are currently following several leads, according to Pyle.
