MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Two men charged with kidnapping a 4-year-old boy in an alleged ransom attempt are scheduled to face a court hearing.
Cobb County jail officials say 26-year-old Jonathan Martinez Tapia and 32-year-old Jair Garcia Cruz will face a hearing Monday on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, cruelty to children and attempted extortion.
Authorities say the two attacked the boy’s mother Thursday morning with a stun gun at her home, bound her, then left with Christian Guevera, demanding $100,000 for his return.
Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce says the boy was found safe Thursday afternoon in a Gwinnett County apartment complex.
