ATHENS —
A Clarke County 14-year-old is charged with using pepper spray in a middle school classroom.
Athens-Clarke County police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow says a teacher at Coile Middle School saw a student spray something in a classroom Tuesday morning.
Sorrow says the teacher and students began coughing, and the classroom was evacuated and ventilated with fans before students were permitted to return.
Sorrow says the teacher took a container of pepper spray from the 14-year-old and turned it over to the school resource officer.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, is charged with having a weapon on school property, disorderly conduct and reckless conduct.
