JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Clayton County sheriffs deputies are searching for more than 100 sheriffs badges issued to people who arent allowed to carry them.
Former Sheriff Victor Hill distributed the badges and ID cards to campaign workers, pastors and some of his friends.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Sheriff Kem Kimbrough, who took over in January, found an incomplete list of 121 people with badges.
The sheriff’s department has issued redesigned badges to current deputies. The new badges are a seven-point star and have employee numbers on them. The old badges have six points.
Hill could not be reached for comment.
