NGEMC's work continues in Gordon County

As of 9 p.m. Thursday, approximately 750 North Georgia EMC members in Gordon County are still without power. While the majority of the power will be restored by late Friday, isolated outages may continue through Saturday.

NGEMC officials urge residents to stay away from areas where emergency and power crews are working as traffic congestion is creating substantial delays in the restoration efforts.

Members who operate supplemental power generators should make sure their equipment has a transfer or double throw switch that will isolate their power source from NGEMC’s electrical system. If equipment is not sufficiently isolated from the electric system, electricity can feed back into lines, endangering line workers and the public during outage situations.
