CUMMING, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a 25-year-old mother has been put in jail on charges of cruelty to children after leaving her five-month-old boy in a hot car for 45 minutes while she shopped.
The mother, Krystal Nicole Whitehead, was taken to the Forsyth County Jail where she remained on Wednesday.
A Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy was told by a shopper that a baby was alone in a car Friday night. Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Frank Huggins said the deputy found the child in a car seat with several windows rolled down.
Huggins said the child was warm to the touch, but otherwise was unharmed. He was turned over to the Division of Family and Children Services.
