A 73-year-old Chickamauga man was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child on Tuesday evening, June 16, at his residence at 228 Vittetoe Road.
According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson:
Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at the residence of Robert L. Hoppel after developing information that Hoppel was in possession of child pornography.
During the search of Hoppel’s residence, detectives located a considerable amount of child pornography in the home.
Hoppel was booked at the Walker County jail on four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Hoppel was released on an $11,000 bond Wednesday afternoon, June 17. He will appear in Walker County Superior Court in November 2009.
