The body of Sgt. Jeffrey Jordan, a Cave Spring man who was killed in Afghanistan last week, is scheduled to arrive at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport at 10:46 a.m. Thursday, Coroner Barry Henderson said.
Jordan, 21, of Cave Spring, was killed June 4 along with two other members of the Calhoun-based Georgia Army National Guard unit.
Local law enforcement -- including Rome Police Department, Floyd County Police Department and Georgia State Patrol -- will escort a processional from the airport to Henderson and Sons Funeral Home.
The route will be Martha Berry Highway to Turner McCall Boulevard, getting off at the Maple Road exit to end at the funeral home, 3002 Maple Road.
Lt. Roy Willingham with the Rome Police Department said he expects roads will be closed starting around 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Miller and the Rev. Robert Vines officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home 6-9 p.m. Thursday.
