A Monday night shooting on Lookout Mountain has left one man dead, and another man was taken into custody.
According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson:
Brian Lee Walden, 35, of 135 Walden Lane, Rising Fawn, was taken into custody at the scene, held and questioned at the Walker County jail.
He was released Tuesday morning on the advice of district attorney Herbert “Buzz” Franklin.
The victim was Harry Lee “Chuck” Derryberry, 45 of 36 Durham Road, Rising Fawn.
An autopsy will be performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta.
The two men and three women were engaged in a domestic assault shortly before the 7:30 p.m. fatal shot was fired from a 12-gauge shotgun.
The shooting happened in a field between Durham and Walden roads on Lookout Mountain.
