There was a disturbance Saturday at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County, according to the state Department of Corrections.
The incident occurred around noon and involved 20 inmates in Block D-1, according to Joan Heath, public affairs director for the State Department of Corrections.
No injuries were reported among inmates or corrections officials at the scene, Heath said.
The prison did receive some damage, but Heath said she did not have specifics.
Prison officials referred all calls to Heath, who said the DOC is investigating the incident.
It's not the first time the prison has been in the news. Three inmates escaped last year but were later captured.
Heath said the situation was quickly brought under control.
