ATLANTA —
Don’t worry if you see a Klingon strolling down the street with a mummy this weekend in Atlanta.
The 24th annual Dragon Con convention kicks off Friday and runs through Monday.
Hoards of people dressed as comic book characters, science fiction heroes and villains and other fantastical figures plan to descend on Atlanta for the festivities.
The convention bills itself as the largest multimedia and pop culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, pop art and more.
Major events include the annual parade down Peachtree Street, a costume contest and an awards banquet, as well as panel discussions on diverse topics.
The 2010 Dragon Con will raise money for the Georgia Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America.
