ATLANTA (AP) — Police have charged a Kennesaw man with the stabbing murder of a woman believed to have been his mother.
Authorities found Joann Wilburn dead from apparent stab wounds at her Powder Springs home Thursday afternoon.
Earlier that day, police encountered 25-year-old Justin Wilburn at the scene of an auto accident in west Cobb County.
Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce says officers at the scene noticed injuries that raised some questions.
Pierce would not describe Wilburn’s injuries, saying only that further examination of the injuries done at a hospital prompted police investigation which led them to check at his mother’s home.
Wilburn is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in Marietta.
