ATLANTA —
Forecasters say a wintry mix of sleet, snow and rain is expected across much of Georgia starting Thursday evening and continuing into Friday.
The winter weather is expected to affect a wide area, with rain and sleet expected in the Atlanta, Macon and Rome areas and light rain and some snow expected in the northeast Georgia mountains.
Forecasters say some snow could accumulate in higher elevations of north Georgia, though most of the state will see no snow accumulation.
A freeze warning was in effect through 11 a.m. Thursday much of northern and central Georgia. It includes the cities of Athens, Atlanta, Blairsville, Dalton, Gainesville, LaGrange and Eatonton.
