2nd arrest made after woman shot, toddler beaten

CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, Ga. (AP) — Police have arrested a 17-year-old man for allegedly shooting a south Fulton County woman and beating her 1-year-old son during a home invasion.

Police arrested Antoine Wimes Tuesday for the Monday attack on Shenegua “Nikki” Neely. Police say Wimes and 21-year-old Donovan McCoy attacked Neely looking for money. McCoy was arrested Monday night.

Police said Wimes’ sister is Neely’s best friend. Chattahoochee Hills police Chief Damon Jones said the incident was drug- and gang-related.

Fulton County jail authorities say Wimes was out of jail on $250,000 bond for February murder and assault charges. His family said he had cut off his ankle monitor.

Neely was in serious condition at Atlanta Medical Center and her so was at Children’s Healthcare of Egleston.
