CANON (AP) — Authorities believe a body found at the bottom of a well in Franklin County is that of a 33-year-old Franklin County woman who had been missing for about two weeks.
Authorities told the Athens Banner-Herald newspaper a body was found about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the bottom of a well. It was about three miles from the home in Canon where the woman, Bonny Anne Cooper, lived with her son and boyfriend.
The special agent in charge of the Athens office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Mike Ayers, said the boyfriend, 42-year-old Brent Shubert, was arrested Sunday on a murder charge. Ayers said Shubert had been interviewed concerning the missing woman and information provided by Shubert and others led police to the site where the body was found.
