Some Starbucks in Atlanta area to offer beer, wine

ATLANTA — Customers will soon be able to buy beer and wine at three Starbucks stores in the Atlanta area.

The city of Roswell granted Starbucks an alcohol license for a store there on Thursday. Beer and wine will also be available at two locations in Atlanta. The alcohol sales are set to begin this fall.

Metro Atlanta is one of the test markets for beer and wine sales, as well as “premium” foods, like small plates, cheese and hot flatbread sandwiches. Customers will be allowed to buy alcohol starting at 2 p.m.

Starbucks Corp. said earlier this year that the new offerings will help it attract evening customers and expand its appeal to community groups and book clubs looking for space to meet.
