DECATUR —
Authorities say a man who fled from police after a traffic stop near Atlanta rammed a car, killing an adult, a child and injuring four others.
Dale Holmes, an assistant DeKalb County police chief, says the suspect rammed a police car with his SUV during the traffic stop, then fled the scene just east of Atlanta on Wednesday night.
Holmes tells CBS Atlanta (http://bit.ly/Y0quSd) that officers then lost sight of the vehicle. Holmes said officers were searching for the SUV, but he stressed that they were not chasing it.
The SUV collided with a red sedan in Decatur, where an adult and child inside that car died on impact. Four other people in that car were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.
Police say they took the suspect into custody.
