Ga. school system OKs ambulances at football

AUGUSTA — Richmond County’s school board has reversed an earlier decision to discontinue hiring ambulances to stand by at high school football games.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/MyoMTn) that the board this week overturned its July 26 decision to replace the ambulances with two emergency medical technicians to cut costs.

The earlier decision was made in hopes of saving the school system $24,000 a year.

On Tuesday, board members said the money was not worth the risk and voted 8-1 to bring back ambulances to the sidelines.
