Indians’ LB receives two bone breaks in leg

Murray County junior linebacker Seth Gilbert broke two bones in his lower left leg during the Indians’ 41-14 season-ending loss to Coosa on Friday.

The game was stopped for around 25 minutes in the first quarter after Gilbert suffered the injury. An ambulance came on the field and Gilbert left with a splint on his left leg. Indians coach John Hammond said he was taken to Hamilton Medical Center but was released the same night.

“You can barely see it on film,” Hammond said of the play where Gilbert was injured. “He was chasing a ball carrier and it was a big scrum of players and someone caught him on his lower leg as he had his foot planted.”

Hammond said Gilbert is a wrestler and will miss the upcoming season, but he should be ready for the 2013 football schedule.
