North Murray freshman hoopsters earn first win
North Murray High School’s freshman boys basketball team hosted Adairsville at Bagley Middle in Chatsworth on Monday and won big, 77-26, in the season opener for both squads.
Jacob Sturgill led the host Mountaineers with 16 points, Brady Swilling added 14 points and Dylan Cantrell and Zach Vess both scored 12.
Mountaineers coach Eric Bishop said his freshman team — all players are also on the junior varsity team, which has played three varsity teams already — was more than prepared for Adairsville.
“Our freshmen are all used to JV and varsity competition,” he said. “So they were ready to go.”
