Here are the news and notes from the pro wrestling world: You won’t see John Cena on the first “Monday Night Raw” of 2010. Cena has been selected as the grand marshal of the Fiesta Bowl parade in Arizona in January. The gig will help Cena promote Wrestlemania 26. Cena will also perform the pregame coin toss for the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 4. “Raw” will be in Dayton, Ohio, that day. Cena can’t be in two places at once. Not even Vince McMahon is that powerful.
• Hulk Hogan is gearing up for another run in the wrestling ring. During an interview with an Australian radio show, Hogan said he will appear on camera in TNA in a commissioner-type role. But he also left the door open to wrestle again if the fans ask for it.
• Not surprisingly, WWE announcer Jim Ross gave “Survivor Series” a favorable review. Ross, sidelined while he recovers from a bout with Bell’s Palsy, watched the pay-per-view from his home.
The Local Corner: Rick Justice asked Doug Watkins for an early Christmas present: Mad Jack in a cage. TWA will hold Thanksgiving Thunder with strictly cage matches Friday and Saturday nights.
TWA runs at 8 p.m. on Fridays in the TWA Arena off Reed Road in northern Whitfield County, about 3 miles north of the bypass. The Action Zone runs at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 6 to 12. Kids younger than 6 are free. Any military member with proper identification will be admitted free.
