Jamie Jones: Book chronicles a wild ride for 'Hulkster'

Here are the news and notes from the world in pro wrestling:

• Hulk Hogan is back in the spotlight. The wrestling legend released a book this week titled “My Life Outside the Ring” (St. Martin’s Press, 320 pages, $25.99). It chronicles the Hulkster’s wild ride through decades in the sport. It’s not published by WWE, so chances are it will be a bit juicier than most wrestling books. Hogan also said this week he will be working with Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. His exact role has not been specified.

• WWE announcer Jim Ross isn’t sure when he’ll be able to return to “Smackdown.” Results from an MRI weren’t encouraging as he battles back from a bout with Bell’s Palsy, a facial neurological disorder.

“Today’s MRI results were not what we had expected and we have more work to do. More tests resume tomorrow morning as the bumps in the road continue,” Ross wrote this week on www.jrsbarbq.com. “I still remain confident that all these health issues will work out in due time. The road just got a little bumpier, or so it seems, for now, but that’s when people roll up their sleeves and fight just a little harder.”

• The Local Corner: Want to play “The Wheel of Torture?” You’ll have a chance at TWA this weekend. The organization will also hold a Halloween costume contest on Saturday open to children 13 and younger. There will be prizes awarded for the best costumes.

In other news, TWA will hold its Legends/Hall of Fame Show on Nov. 7.

TWA runs Fridays at 8 p.m. in the TWA Arena off Reed Road in north Whitfield County, about 3 miles north of the bypass. The Action Zone runs Saturdays at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 6 to 12. Kids younger than 6 are free. Any military member with proper identification will be admitted free.

• Dixie Championship Wrestling on the South Bypass will host a “Buried Alive” match Halloween night. Bell time is 7. There will be candy and treats for all kids. For information, call (762) 201-5542.

• Trivia Teaser: Which wrestlers were the last to hold the World Class Championship Wrestling six-man tag team titles?

Check back next week for the answer.

Last week’s question: Who accidentally threw the electric chair switch that lit up Abdullah The Butcher at Halloween Havoc in 1991?

Cactus Jack.

On Halloween, Jamie Jones wants to meet a woman dressed as Sable from “Fully Loaded” in 1998. He can be reached at jamiejones@daltoncitizen.com or at (706) 272-7723.
