Madelyn Logan had 16 points to lead New Hope’s eighth-grade girls basketball team to a 40-30 victory over visiting Valley Point on Thursday.
Lexi Storey added 11 points and Peyton Maret had seven for the Lady Kodiaks (15-1), who improved to 11-0 in North Georgia Middle School Athletic League play and clinched the No. 1 seed for the postseason tournament.
Emily Beck and Isabel Salinas each had eight points for Valley Point.
• New Hope seventh girls 32, Valley Point 4: The Lady Kodiaks (15-1) spread the scoring around in Thursday’s win as they improved to 11-0 in league play and clinched the No. 1 seed for the postseason tournament.
Bria Clemmons had nine points, Kylee Ward and Gabby Wright each added six and Aubrey Young had five points in addition to her 10-rebound effort.
• New Hope eighth boys 50, Valley Point 44: Cameron Heard had 24 points, with 17 coming in the fourth quarter, as he led the Kodiaks (6-5) to Thursday’s win at Valley Point.
• New Hope seventh boys 52, Valley Point 48 (OT): New Hope lost a 37-14 halftime lead — built with a 25-point second quarter — but secured Thursday’s win at Valley Point in overtime with free throws. Austin Tibbs had 19 points to lead the Kodiaks (6-5), while Devonte Dunn added 11.
• Westside eighth boys 53, Bagley 26: Grant Terrell made four 3-pointers in a 14-point performance to lead the Rockets (11-0) in Thursday’s win at home. Paxton Pardee added 12 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Brody Frazier’s 11-point effort led Bagley (5-6).
• Westside seventh boys 42, Bagley 19: Seth Hutchinson had 10 points to lead all scorers and Jacob Asbury added eight for the Rockets (10-1) in Thursday’s victory at home, while Lucas Sexton had six points and Jordan Couch chipped in five for the Braves (5-6).
• Bagley eighth girls 37, Westside 22: The Lady Braves’ McChael Cochran had eight points in the first quarter on her way to a 15-point effort in Thursday’s win over visiting Westside. Alonda Bennett added eight points for Bagley (2-9), while Cara Adams added seven.
• Bagley seventh girls 22, Westside 21: Skylar Key had seven points and Kelli Barnes added five for the Lady Braves (6-5) in Thursday’s win at home.
• Gladden eighth girls 38, Eastbrook 29: Hannah Caldwell had 11 points to lead the Lady Warriors to Thursday’s road win. Hannah Caldwell added nine points for Gladden (6-5) and Ashley Harrison had five.
• OLPH varsity boys 38, Christian Heritage 35: Tyson Cooper led the Lions with 18 points and Lucas Grant added six during Monday’s loss in Chattanooga.
