Maybe some of those pre-PG WWE storylines that pushed the envelope weren’t such a great idea.
Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is being grilled about her involvement in pro wrestling, with most of the heat coming from Richard Blumenthal, her main competitor in the race for a Connecticut Senate seat. Mindy Myers, a spokesman for Blumenthal (currently the state attorney general), had a less than flattering statement to The Wall Street Journal about McMahon’s past role.
“That experience involves marketing violence, sex and abusive treatment of women — aimed especially at children — while turning her back on steroid abuse,” he told the newspaper.
McMahon detractors have referenced a myriad of questionable storylines, from Triple H having sex with a corpse to a simulated sex show put on by Edge and Lita, as they fire the salvos of mud that come with most political races. The McMahon camp attempted to control the WWE story by not backing away from — and often highlighting — her leadership role in taking the company worldwide.

Area tournaments preview: Pressure rises as season nears end
(Misty Watson/The Daily Citizen) Southeast Whitfield senior Jeremy White, bottom, posts up to roll Armuchee’s Phillip Broome during their 120-pound match Tuesday at Southeast. White is one of only two Raiders to qualify for sectionals and state a year ago, but Southeast will try to improve that number as it heads to the Area 7-3A tournament today at Allatoona High.
Wrestling may not be easy, but for much of the Georgia high school season, the sport’s schedule is forgiving.
