Boggs will speak at FCA banquet

Dalton’s Mitchell Boggs, a reliever for the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, will be the keynote speaker at the annual Whitfield/Murray Fellowship of Christian Athletes Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

The public is invited by reservation only. The meal and program are provided free by sponsors of the ministry.

If you would like to attend, but have not been contacted by a table host, please call (706) 226-5144 for a table assignment for you and one guest.

Chris Whitfield: Braves lose again, but special moment is a winner

When I’m at a sporting event but not specifically covering that day’s game, I don’t like sitting in the press box. So on Memorial Day at Turner Field — I was working on a feature on St. Louis Cardinals reliever and Dalton native Mitchell Boggs; the story will be published later this week — I decided to explore a little bit, see the sights and feel the atmosphere of the game.
