Westside Middle School’s eighth-grade girls basketball team closed the regular season Monday with a 44-15 victory at Gladden.
Henley Brueckner’s 15-point performance led the Lady Rock-ets, while Cynthia Coronel added nine and Tori Ingram chipped in eight.
The Lady Rockets are among the teams who will compete for titles in the North Georgia Mid-dle School Athletic League’s postseason tournament this week.
Action begins with seventh-grade semifinals today. In the girls bracket, Gladden is at New Hope at 4:30 p.m., while Bagley tips off at Westside at the same time. In the boys bracket, Bagley hosts New Hope at 4:30 p.m. and Valley Point will play at Westside following the girls game.
In Friday’s eighth-grade girls semifinals, Valley Point is at New Hope and Westside is at Bagley, with both games at 4:30 p.m. In Friday’s eighth-grade boys semifinals, North Whitfield is at Westside at 4:30 p.m. and Bagley is at New Hope following the girls game.
All championships will be played Saturday at Northwest, starting with the seventh-grade girls title game at 9 a.m. That will be followed by contests for seventh-grade boys at 10:30 a.m., eighth-grade girls at noon and eighth-grade boys at 1:30 p.m.
Area middle school results are published each Monday and Thursday in The Daily Citizen. Coaches should send information to sports@daltoncitizen.com, with the final score, outstanding performers, team’s win-loss record and date and location of the competition included in the report.
Events that take place on Monday and Tuesday must be received by noon Wednesday for publication; events that take place on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday must be received by noon Sunday for publication. Events reported after the deadline or without complete information may not be published.
