Dolphins win; control CASL’s Blue Division

The Dalton Dolphins downed Tennessee’s Signal Mountain on Thursday to take first place in the Chattanooga Area Swim League’s Blue Division.

Dalton was dominant in taking a 431.5-324.5 win at the Dalton Recreation Center pool.

The Dolphins (4-1) lost to the Green Giants (3-2) in the season-opening meet, 382.5-277.5, but have strung together four straight wins since then.

Dalton had five swimmers with maximum-point efforts — Ross Valdez, Hollie Porter, Raul Valdez, Ethan Young and Taylor Dale each scored 19 — and 13 who scored at least 15 points against Signal Mountain.

Other major contributors for the Dolphins: Oscar Chennard, Reese Bingham and Romina Mendoza (17); Roman Valdez and Ethan Pence (16); Alex Mashburn (15); Abby O’Ferrall, Henry Bethel and Hannah Smith (13); Patrick Calderon, Tyler Stevenson, Taylor Mathis and Wil Cushman (12); Oli Valdez (11); and Bruno Valdez (10).

The Green Giants lost earlier in the season to Chattanooga’s Stuart Heights, setting up Thursday’s meet with first place on the line.
