Church news

• Members of The Church of the Nazarene will present a Christmas program Sunday at 6 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Cohutta.

Hopewell is off Hopewell Loop Road. Pastor John Tudor welcomes everyone.



• Bethel A.M.E. Church will have a Christmas celebration Friday from 11 a.m. to noon.

The church is at 620 Spring St. in Dalton. For more information, call (706) 226-2714. Pastor Erma Raymond invites the public.



• Antioch Baptist Church will present “Christmas Comes to Detroit Louie” Sunday at 5 p.m. Christmas dinner will be served in the fellowship hall after the service with a special visit from Santa.

A nursery is provided.

• Eastbrook Baptist Church will present “Come See What My Eyes Have Seen” Sunday at 6 p.m.

• Lindsey Memorial Baptist Church will present “Carols by Candlelight” Sunday at 6 p.m.

• Harmony Baptist Church will present its annual Christmas program Sunday at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a New Year’s Eve Watch Night service Dec. 30 at 8 p.m.

• Grace Baptist Church will present the Christmas play, “Jesus Lives!,” today at 6 p.m.

The church is at 2049 Lower Kings Bridge Road in Dalton.



• River of Life Church is currently meeting at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton. Service times are Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Pastors are Dr. H.E. and the Rev. Valerie Viars.

• Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church has announced the following upcoming events:

Cantata — The choir will present “The First Light” Sunday at 11 a.m.

Children’s Christmas program — Sunday at 7 p.m. in church sanctuary

Christmas party — Sunday at 7:45 p.m. in church fellowship hall

Christmas Eve service — Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary that includes holy communion, candlelighting and special music.

• The Free Hope Baptist Church choir will present the cantata, “Glorious Impossible,” Sunday at 11 a.m. under the direction of Curtis Cochran.

• The Evangelical Methodist Church choir with orchestra will be celebrating the Christmas season with the musical “Candlelight and Carols” Sunday at 10 a.m. The community is cordially invited to attend.

On Christmas Eve the church will be having communion services. The church will be open between the hours of 5 to 6:30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to come, take communion and leave, or a more formal candlelight service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

• Dug Gap Baptist Church will present a live nativity scene today and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Free coffee and hot chocolate and refreshments will be provided for the community.

• The City View Church of God S.W.A.T. will present its Christmas program “The Perfect Gift” Sunday at 11 a.m. There will be singing, sign language, dramas and Santa Claus.

• A Christmas program “The Life of Jesus” will be presented Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Shadow Ridge Worship Center followed by the drama skit “The Light House.”

• The Trinity United Methodist Church choir will perform a Christmas musical, “Hallelujah! Jesus Is Born!,” Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

The church will have a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 6:30 p.m.

• A revival continues at Cedar Valley Cathedral of Praise Sunday through Wednesday into the seventh week with national evangelist Joel Talley.

Services on Sunday are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 7:30 nightly Monday through Wednesday. The church is on Cleveland Highway in Dalton.



• Carolyn Baptist Church will host special guest singer and musician Jonathan Akins Sunday at 6 p.m. There will be Christmas music, scripture, the Lord’s Supper and a candlelight service.

• The adult choir of Fellowship Baptist Church will present Mike Speck’s Christmas musical “The Name Jesus” today at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.

Today’s performance will be followed by a chili supper fundraiser for the youth of the church. Tickets are $7 and may be bought by calling (706) 673-2193.

The children’s choir will present the Christmas musical “Cooking Up Christmas” Sunday at 6 p.m.
