ROME — Student journalists representing Berry College’s Campus Carrier newspaper claimed five first-place awards for individual writing excellence in this year’s Georgia College Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. Overall, the Carrier received a total of 11 individual and staff honors at the annual ceremony, held Feb. 6 at the GCPA Press Institute in Athens, Ga.
“These awards are just the physical representation of something I’ve known for quite a while – the Carrier has the best staff and does some of the best work in the state,” said Kyler Post, a junior from Hiram, Ga., who currently serves as chief editor for the publication. “Week in and week out, the Carrier is the place that students, faculty, staff and alumni go to learn about what is important in the Berry community.”
Writing awards were earned in competition with four-year colleges and universities of all enrollments. These honors include:

Visualize a beautiful, white painted barn without any animals, kept endlessly clean, there is not a speck of dust or even one pesky fly. The multiple miles of rolling hills are beautifully groomed with grass and trees only to be admired and photographed by society rather than filled with fruit and vegetables that will better peoples’ lives.
