Submitted by Berry College

ROME — Berry College’s yearlong focus on the artwork of talented alumni artists will continue Feb. 15 through March 5 with a Moon Gallery exhibit by Mona Crowe. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment. An artist’s reception is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 5.

Crowe specializes in mixed media, using acrylic colored pencils, ink, stamps, spray paint and other objects to create imagery that is “symbolic and surreal.” She encourages viewers to find their own meaning and connection.

“Looking at my work is like looking at a puzzle,” the artist stated. “The viewer is challenged to interpret what they think is my message.”

Crowe graduated from Berry in 1979 with a major in fine arts and a minor in religion. She later earned a Master of Education degree in art education from West Georgia College (now the University of West Georgia). She retired in 2005 after more than two decades as a teacher and private art instructor. He own artwork has been displayed in numerous settings, including the Sidewalk Gallery in Atlanta, the WomanKraft Gallery in Tucson, Ariz., and on tour in Europe with other artists from West Georgia College.

Crowe is a native of Paulding County, Ga., where she also taught school for 23 years. She currently resides in Black Hawk, Colo.
