Dolphins will try to rebound from season-opening loss

The Dalton Dolphins opened their 2012 Chattanooga Area Swim League schedule Monday night, losing 382.5-277.5 to Tennessee’s Signal Mountain.

The Dolphins, who will once again will compete in the league’s highest level, the Blue Division, got maximum-point efforts from Oscar Chennard and Ethan Young, who each registered 19.

Other top scorers for the Dolphins were Taylor Dale (18); Patrick Calderon-Schuler, Reese Bingham, Hollie Porter and Ethan Pence (17); Alex Mashburn (16); Abby O'Ferrall, Donald Sener and Romina Medoza (13); Henry Bethal, Nash Bingham and Rebecca Davis (12); and Asher Pence and Will Cushman (11).

The Green Giants, a perennial title contender and the Dolphins’ top rival, had three swimmers score 19 points — Jewel Gordon, Susanna LaRochelle and Samantha Vargo.

The Dolphins return to action next week, hosting Tennessee’s Stuart Heights on Monday at the Dalton Recreation Center on Civic Drive.
