WALESKA —
Ten members of Reinhardt University’s 2012 women’s lacrosse team were recently honored with postseason awards from the National Women’s Lacrosse League. Reinhardt had one All-NWLL first-team selection, one second team all-league pick, three players named to the honorable mention list and eight on the all-academic team.
Alexa Griffin, a 5-foot-5-inch attacker/defender from Dalton, was on the all-academic team, along with teammates Emily Collins, Ashley Davis, Ashley Gongas, Courtney Holcombe, Rachel Spillane, Laura Waite and Shannon Wingate. To be a part of the all-academic team, a player must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better and be at least a sophomore in academic status.
The Lady Eagles concluded their second season of intercollegiate competition in 2012 with an 8-9 overall record, including 5-5 in the league for sixth place among 11 squads. Reinhardt entered the NWLL Tournament as the No. 6 seed and finished sixth.
