CHATTANOOGA —
Team Tennessee took advantage of an unearned run in both the first and seventh innings, then rode some solid pitching to a 3-2 win over Team Georgia in the 11th Annual Stump on Sports Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Baseball Classic on Tuesday night at Ooltewah High.
Dalton High’s Carter Gillean, the only area player on the Georgia roster, drew a seventh-inning walk that resulted in a tying run after Gillean was relieved for a pinch runner. Catamounts coach Bob Brotherton was the skipper for the Peach State.
Tennessee took a 10-1 lead in the all-time series with the win. Jake Sampson (Heritage-Catoosa) was saddled with the loss.
Hunter Hudson (Sequiatchie County) and T.J. Binder (Ooltewah) each finished 2-for-3 with a double. Hudson was named the game's Most Valuable Player while Binder took Tennessee Player of the Game honors. Blaine Swift (Coosa) was voted as the Georgia Player of the Game.
The Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Series will conclude today with the 15th Annual All-Star Softball Classic at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga. The doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m.
