Area arrests

• Jorge Luis Chavarria, 42, 229 Hollywood Drive, Dalton, was placed on hold Tuesday at the Whitfield County jail by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Scott Lynn Ferney, 55, 114 Locust Way, Dalton, was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with sale of cocaine.

• George Leonard Howard, 71, 1306 Underwood St., No. 13, Dalton, was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with failure to register as a sex offender.

• Sammy Robert Mullis Jr., 51, 3234 Headrick Circle, Dalton, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with willful obstruction of law officers, fugitive from justice, driving while license suspended or revoked, tire violation and improper lane change.
