Chris Whitfield (a sports writer for The Daily Citizen) is indeed a brave man. Picking winners/losers in the Friday sports section can be difficult, especially when some local sporting “fans” believe that high school football matters beyond the season. These overzealous, emotionally-challenged folks complain in the Forum, Letters to the Editor, by voice mail and hate-filled letters to the sports editors.
Personal (verbal) attacks run like Herschel did on a Georgia Saturday night. Keep in mind, these games are played by high school kids only 16 years of age on average. So let the competitions play out as they may. It’s a game; fun is the objective. If it means more than that, I suggest you find a therapist that can assist you with low self-esteem and reality difficulties.
By the way: “Go Big Red!”
