How many times when you were growing up did you hear the words “Walk, don’t run”? I know I heard them many times. That is why I am taking the opportunity to “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.”
My beautiful wife Priscilla has Alzheimer’s disease, and will not be available to walk. So I will be walking for her and all the other people stricken with this terrible disease.
The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” will be Saturday, Sept. 22. Activities and registration begin at 9 a.m. in front of the Dalton Depot Restaurant. The walk begins at 10 a.m. There will be fun, games and music for all ages.
Pick up a pinwheel flower to be placed in the Promise Garden in honor or memory of a loved one or a friend. Walk as an individual, join a team or form a team.
This is not only an event for awareness but an opportunity where you can help raise money for the support of education, research, programs and services so we can live in a world without Alzheimer’s disease. Register online at www.alz.org/georgia or call the Alzheimer’s Association — Georgia Chapter at (706) 275-0819.
I am now the “voice” for my wife and I can hear her still today, just as she did with the grandchildren saying “Walk, don’t run.” Please come join me for this special day.
My wife can’t walk with me, will you?
