Arlene “Hoppy” Crowe Oxford, 86, formerly of Dalton, departed this life on Dec. 27, 2009, at Camden (Tenn.) Healthcare and Rehab.
Oxford was born July 1, 1923, to the late Frank L. and Susie Talliferro Crowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Hayden Oxford; brother, Harold Crowe; and grandson, Michael Oxford. She is survived by sons, Dwayne and Bruce Oxford of Holladay, Tenn.; granddaughters, Angie (Eric) Pafford of Holladay, Karla (Steven) Richardson, Lacey (Will) Bidding of Camden; five great-grandchildren; nephews, Larry (Dorothy) and Jim (Judy) Crowe of Dalton; cousins, Robert (Juanita) Cochran of Cummings, Jane Bigham of Calhoun, Mary Alice (George) Vineyard of Tunnel Hill and Linda (Dennis) Officer of Dalton.
She was a dedicated mother and housewife, retired from Holladay School lunchroom and before marriage work in textile factories and at Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta during WWII.
She was baptized at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Dalton and awaits Jesus Christ’s return in the Palestine Methodist Cemetery near Holladay, Tenn.
