Amos Ladd Keith Jr.



Mr. Amos Ladd Keith Jr., 80, of Eton, passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, in Hamilton Medical Center.

Mr. Keith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth.

Mr. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Lennie Love Keith and Amos Ladd Keith Sr.; a brother, Andrew “Jack” Keith.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Joyce Rymer Keith of Eton; his children, their spouses and significant others, Karen Keith McAbee and Marion McAbee of Eton, Vivian Keith McConkey and Vic McConkey of Eton, Amy Lynne Keith and Kathy Siemon of Atlanta, Fred Jackson Keith and Stacey Keith of Eton, and Andrew Joseph Keith and Tina Keith of Eton; a sister, Marguerite Keith Raber of Eton; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Keith was born Sept. 12, 1929, on his family’s farm, where he still resided. He attended Murray County Schools, Emory at Oxford and graduated from the University of Georgia.

Along with managing his family’s farm, Mr. Keith had owned several businesses in Murray and Whitfield counties.

Services will be at 4 P.M. on Sunday in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. George Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Eton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or your charity of choice.

Peeples Funeral Home and Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
