Billy Ralph Hammond

Mr. Billy Ralph Hammond, 68, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.

He was born in Blanche, Ala., on March 6, 1941.

He was predeceased by his father, Elijah Ralph Hammond and a very special friend, Joanne Lively.

He is survived by his three loving daughters and sons-in-law, Felicia and Randy Cantrell, Chriseia and Richie Thomas, all of Dalton, Tiffani Chapman, Acworth; the mother of his children, MaryAnne Hammond Smith, Dalton; his mother, Haynie Hammond, Dalton; sisters, Barbara Sales, Chatsworth, Glenda Parks, Dalton and Wanda Grant, Cumming; brother, Wayne Hammond of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jill and James Nichols, Brandi and Victor Machoka, Jessica Cantrell, Chris and Brandy Thomas, Valarie and Justin Bozarth, and Schylar Chapman, and seven great-grandchildren, Shelby and Jaxon Thomas, Jaden and Jace Nichols, Emily and Addison Bozarth and Camden Machoka; very special friends, Ralph and Sue Headrick, Rockwood Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Billy are Tuesday at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Dixon and Randy Cantrell officiating. He will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home, Melrose Chapel.
