Samuel Lee ‘Sam’ Kemp



Mr. Samuel Lee “Sam” Kemp, 50, of Dalton and formerly of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.

He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and an ordained deacon. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willie Kemp Sr.; brother, Willie Kemp Jr. and grandparents, Mr. Ernest Levi Ramsey Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Moore Ramsey.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Leacha Pinson Kemp; stepchildren, Reginald Quintin Williams, Lindsay Williams, and Alexander Williams of Dalton; mother, Mrs. Kate Lynn Kemp of Chatsworth; three sisters, Mrs. Karen Kemp (Eddie) Gregory, Mrs. Ernestine (Donald) Sumlin, and Mrs. Annette Folk; brothers, Mr. Daniel (Yvette) Kemp, Mr. James (Stetsa) Kemp, and Mr. Randy (Stephanie) Kemp; father-in-law and mother-in-law Mr. Robert (Mary) Brown; sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral is Friday at 1 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth, 121 W. Market St., with the Rev. W.B. White, the Rev. Tony Patterson and other ministers officiating.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Home Inc. Dalton.
