Henry ‘Pete’ Lester

Mr. Henry ‘Pete’ Lester, 77, of Sophia, W.V., passed away on Monday, Nov. 1, 2009, in the Raleigh General Hospital. Mr. Lester attended the Sophia Church of God for 43 years. He served his country in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Elvira Lester, of Sophia, W.V.; sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy Lester of Sophia, Stan and April Lester of Dalton; sister, Cora Phipps of Vienna, Va.; niece, Robin Zimmerman of Charleston, S.C.; and his loving grandchildren, Ansley, Madison, Evan and Emma Lester, all of Dalton; also a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of ‘Pete’s’ life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Sophia Church of God with the Rev. Stan Lester, the Rev. James Bostic and the Rev. F.D. Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at sunset at Memorial Park, Beckley with Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 conducting military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
