James Hawkins

Mr. James Hawkins, 83, of Dalton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.

He was the son of the late Thad and Mertie Gibson Hawkins and was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Dillard Hawkins; brothers, John Hawkins and Eddmond Hawkins.

He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.

James is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Buddy Handley of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Thad and Linda Hawkins of Greenville, Ky.; granddaughter, Alana Self of Dalton; nephew, Jeff Hawkins of Cincinnati, Ohio; special friend, the Rev. Paul Armstrong.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.
