Ronnie Joe Sanford

Mr. Ronnie Joe Sanford, 58, of Calhoun, departed this life Monday evening, June 22, 2009, at the local hospital.

Ronnie was born Sept. 16, 1950, in Floyd County, a son of the late Carey Evelee Sanford and Bertha Mae Winters Sanford. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Winston Sanford. Ronnie was employed at Mohawk Industries.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tomma Norton Sanford of the residence; daughter, Tracy Michelle Sanford and granddaughter, Michelle Whitney Lemons, both of Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bobby Moore of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh Don and Evelyn Sanford of Dalton, James and Mae Sanford of Ellenboro, N.C. and Harold and Pat Sanford of Conyers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Audrey Ritchie, Adel and Johnny Burke and Helen Norton, all of Blue Ridge and Ann L. Higdon of Kennesaw; 12 nephews, nine nieces, 11 great-nephews, 16 great-nieces, three great-great-nephews and four great-great-nieces.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ronnie Joe Sanford are Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating.

He will be laid to rest at the Haven of Rest Cemetery with Bill Ritchie, Michael Bennett and Anthony, Wesley, Joseph and Jason Sanford serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
