Jeffery Lynn ‘Jeff’ Smart



Mr. Jeffery Lynn “Jeff” Smart, 54, of Tunnel Hill, departed this life Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 2009, at his home.

Jeff was born Feb.15, 1955, in Marion, Ill., a son of the late George Clayburn Smart and Mary Ruth Thompkins Smart. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steven Smart, sister, Teresa Ann Smart.

He is survived by his companion, Carol Sexton of the home; sons, Josh Smart of Marion, Ill., and Carl Smart of Harrison, Tenn.; daughters, Nicole Smart of Tampa, Fla., Kimberly Smart of Harrison, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Krista Durham of Rocky Face and Leigh Anne Wright of Bristol, Va.; brothers, Ronnie, Mike, Danny, James and Phillip Smart all of Marion, Ill.; sisters, Katherine Smart of Sacramento, Calif., and Alice Thompson of Marion, Ill.; grandchildren, Lee Smart, Brianna Smart, Makayla Durham, Randy Durham, Gabreal Durham, Breanna Wright, Alexus Wright and Landon Wright; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jeffery Lynn Smart are Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 9 p.m. Friday.
