James Vernon Coker

James Vernon Coker, 78, of Dalton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Roselle Keith Coker; sister, Kathleen Kinnamon; and special brother-in-law, Gary Ray Swinney.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Swinney Coker of the residence; daughters and sons-in-law, Velinda and Kenneth Baldridge, and Lisa and David Baldridge, all of Dalton; son, Bryan Coker of Dalton; special brothers-in-law, George Swinney and Earl Swinney; sister, Irene Bryant of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, C.L. and Sue Coker of Dalton; grandchildren, Cory Baldridge, Keith Baldridge, Sara Pitts, Blake Baldridge, Brent Baldridge, Tandrea Baldridge, Megan Coker, Brooke Giles and Westley Coker; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Coker will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Trammell Campbell and the Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating.

Burial will be at Little Prospect Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Baldridge, Brent Baldridge, Corey Baldridge, Keith Baldridge, Westley Coker and Randall Bryant.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
