Sue ‘Mama Sue’ Smith Stevens

Mrs. Sue “Mama Sue” Smith Stevens, 83, of Dalton passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Benjamin H. Smith and Georgia Cargal Smith and was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Stevens in 2007; sisters, Lena Little, Flora Roberts and Neta Henderson; brothers, Sam Smith, Lloyd Smith, George Rollin Smith, Wilson Smith, William Pryor and Drennon Smith.

Sue is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Gordon Rich of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, B.H. and DeEtte Smith of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Brenda Smith Davis, Tullie Smith and Mary Lou Smith Fowler; nieces and nephews, Benny Roberts, Dewey Roberts, Lloyd “Hal” Roberts, Kirk Roberts, Warren Butch Roberts, Suzan Townsend, Yvette Lough, Nancy Colquitt, Lacrecia Smith, Michael Smith, Mitchell Smith, Lamar Whittenburg, Tommy Whittenburg, Kellie Smith, Linda Bennett, Marlene Underhill, Jane Roberts, Steven Smith, Billy Smith, Roger Pryor, Carolyn Kitchens and Dianne Miller.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Roberts, the Rev. William “Oogie” Roberts and Steven Smith officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Rock Bridge Morning Glory’s Prayer Group.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home today from 3 to 8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rock Bridge Community Church, 100 W. Gordon St., Dalton, GA 30720 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 922 E. Morris St., Dalton, GA 30720.
