James Lindsey Jr.

James Lindsey Jr., 40, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Dalton, died at 7:09 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Mr. Lindsey was formerly employed at Miller Industrial Fluids in Indianapolis as a technical sales representative. He was a PADI master dive instructor and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a proud American and supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project. He was a very giving person, donating bone marrow two times. He was a wonderful husband and father, and he enjoyed making people laugh and being with family.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 27, 1972, the son of James and Janette Moyer Lindsey Sr.

He married Dawn Eads on Jan. 3, 2009.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Lindsey; children, Lauren Kate Lindsey and Cadence Zane Lindsey, both of Dalton; mother, Janette Patterson, stepfather, Herald Patterson, both of Dalton; stepfather, Jay Thompson; stepmother, Bonnie Thompson, both of Ehrhardt, S.C.; brother, Blue (Brenda) Patterson of Ellijay; sisters, Elizabeth Thompson of Atlanta and Lupita Patterson of Columbus; and grandfather, retired general Ira Smith of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lindsey Sr., and a grandmother, Mona Smith.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Gary W. Pittman officiating.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cremation is planned following the service.
