Joseph A. Temple

Mr. Joseph A. Temple, 69, of Dalton passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Karl Temple, who was killed in World War II, and by his stepfather, Robert Spry of Statesville, N.C., and mother-in-law, Marian D. Lankford.

Joe was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War having served four years with the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Dalton Fire Department after 25 years of service to the community. Joe was a member of American Legion Post 112 and the VFW.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Malinda Lankford Temple of the residence; daughters, Lora Lee Turner and Malinda Ree Temple; and grandson, Joseph Bradford Turner of Rockmart; mother, Ruth Spry of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; brother, Rodney Temple of Kernersville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Leroy Vigil and Vickie and Eddie Bott of Statesville, N.C. and Paula and Richard Hebert of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Rebecca L. Thomason; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Rev. Jim Reilly for the caring support he gave Joe and family members during this time.

Services honoring the life of Joseph A. Temple are today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Reilly officiating.

Members of the Dalton Fire Department will serve as honor guard and military honors will be provided by Dalton American Legion Post 112.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home today from noon until the funeral hour at 3 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
